Part 6 - Trials & Choosing Horses

Choosing Horses
You choose your horses as you see fit, spread across 2yo's, 3yo's and 4yo+.  The largest portion of the races conform to real life eligibility, with some small changes here and there.

Race distances vary from 5f sprints, right up to 2m4f for the Ascot Gold Cup.

The 2000 Guineas for example is open to 3yo Males only, The Dewhurst Stakes is only open to 2yo's.  So, when choosing your horses to upload, ensure you have a reasonable balance to help yourself with eligibility for races.

Trials
Game performance should be treated as a guide only.  Only upload horses that perform well in trial runs using your race builder.

  1. Mix up the courses - Left straight, right straight, left turns, right turns, tracks that favour speed, and those that favour good gallopers.
  2. If you trial at just one or two tracks, you could end up with uploading alot of horses to your stables, and only then find out they've got a "horses for courses" trait.
  3. By mixing the tracks, you'll find a nice selection of horses competitive over several tracks and you'll also have the knowledge to upload a few horses to target specific races.
  4. Trial your National Hunt hopefuls over the flat, hurdles and chase courses, so you know who can handle the distances, and excel at each discipline.
  5. There are no 2yo races in the NHC
    1. Trial your 3yo's over flat and hurdles
    2. Trial your 4yo+ over flat, hurdles, and chase fences.
